Custom Clubs At Glenn Dale

The Lie angle is the angle formed between the shaft and sole plate of the golf club.  The sole of the club should be parallel to the ground when striking a golf ball.  The length of the golf shaft and the individual’s golf swing are the controlling factors in determining the correct lie angle.  Tests are done by placing special tape on the sole of the club and the golfer then hits a ball from a special lie board. The lie of the club is determined to be too flat if the marks on the tape are towards the toe. Too upright if the marks on the tape are towards the heel of the club.

The lie angle affects the flight of a golf ball and errors are more evident with the short irons. When you continually line a wedge up with the pin and it mostly goes left or right, its time to have your lie angle checked.

We charge a flat fee of $15.00 for determining the correct lie angle for an individual golfer and measuring the lie angle of up to 10 irons. We charge $4.00 for each club that needs to be bent.
